Wha’s Happ’nin’ by Sis Frank

“Shake, Rattle and Roll”
It was a wild scene at The Beach Bar as The Nighthawks closed out the Blues Festival on Sunday night! A mystery blond jumped up on the bar as we all joined in on the closing number. It was madness.

Barbie and Patrick sat in with their own wailing harps, John Cleary climbed over the stage bench to play the keyboard while Mark Wehner and The Nighthawks led us through “one more time” of “Shake, Rattle and Roll.”

The young “Flimsy Blues Band,” Chris Carsel, Yvonne Tharpes, Carey Bell and Mitch Woods gave their all as they performed. One act stood out as they played at Mongoose Junction – “T-Bird and Friends” – they were hot! Les Burnside, Lem Liburd and Greg Jones were “the friends” and did they play. I could have listened to T-Bird all night.

Thanks to Steve and Helen for putting it all together, to everyone who sold food, tended bar, set up and cleared the ball field. What an enormous accomplishment.

We at the art school are especially honored to have been allowed to “pass the boxes” for donations. The girls danced and gave away kisses as they collected much-needed money for scholarships. Thanks to everyone who gave.

Slimman’s Parking
Where’s the most attractive parking lot in Cruz Bay? Just look at the comfortable benches, newly painted office and now, a new service – your car is washed and waxed while you shop. I always knew that my favorite conga player was a business man.
