VIDOH COMMEMORATES 20TH ANNUAL NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK

The Virgin Islands Department of Health (VIDOH) is promoting public health by engaging in educational forums, health outreach, and exercise promotion for National Public Health Week(NPHW).

Acting Commissioner, Duane Howell, stated “We will continue to fulfill our mission by working towards a healthier community. Events such as National Public Health Week allows the department to highlight the services we offer to the community. We invite the community  to join us in our health promotion and prevention efforts. All residents and visitors should feel free to join us at any of our events throughout the territory on  April 7-10, 2015.”

April 7, 2015: Press Conference with Poison Control and youth poison awareness presentations. Displays and Open House at Charles Harwood, Morris F. de Castro, and Schneider Regional VIDOH clinics.

April 8, 2015: Health Symposium at Tutu Park Mall(STT) and Sunshine Mall(STX). 10am-3pm

April 9, 2015: Health Professions Panel Discussion for prospective students and those interested in the Public Health field.

April 10, 2015: Health, Fitness and Fun Day.

During the first full week of April each year communities across the United States observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation. For nearly 20 years, APHA has served as the organizer of NPHW. This years theme is “Healthiest Nation 2030.”
