Re:  Property Tax Hearing and Demonstration Protest

Good day everyone,

Reminding everyone that the Committee of Finance will be hosting a property tax hearing on Bill No. 32-0030 “An Act amending 33 VIC, section 2404 limiting increases in the assessed value of real property” (Proposed by Senator Janette Millin Young)” on April 11, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Cleone Henrietta Maynard Legislative Conference Room on St. John.

Anyone who wants to testify must submit written testimony by April 7, 2017 to Aziza Rivera at (340) 712-2202 or email at arivera@legvi.org.  The St. John community needs to stand united in addressing the illegal property tax system.  Your statement is important even if it is just a few words.  If you do not have access to email, come to E-C Service Station and I will email your letters.

There will also be a Protest on April 11, 2017 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am (before the hearing) in front of the Cruz Bay Legislature building.  The protest will be orderly and true to the issue.  Attendance is critical.  There will be a meeting for persons participating in the protest on April 3, 2017 at 5:30 pm at St. Ursula’s Multipurpose Center to prepare posters and discuss civil protest.  If you cannot attend the meeting, but wish to protest call Myrtle Barry at 776-6046.

Best regards,

Myrtle Barry
