St. John has been voted Best Island in the Caribbean/ Atlantic by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler in the publications 18th annual Readers Choice Awards poll.
The prestigious award was presented to Commissioner Richards at a gala ceremony at New Yorks Metropolitan Museum of Art on October 17.
We are absolutely thrilled. St. John and all of the U.S. Virgin Islands have always shared a common goal of welcoming travelers as guests to our home, said Comm. Richards. We are honored to be chosen as the best Caribbean island by some of the most discerning and knowledgeable travelers in the world.
St. John topped the list with a higher score than Bermuda or the British Virgin Islands. Each island candidate was rated, criterion by criterion, as excellent, very good, good, fair or poor. Categories included scenery, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and activities.
The annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards poll analyzes the travel preferences of the magazines readership in various categories including cities, islands, airlines, cruise lines, hotels, spas, resorts, and rental cars. The ratings are based on the responses of nearly 250,000 discriminating subscribers of Conde Nast Traveler, who participated in its 18th annual poll.

A very pleased Governor Charles W. Turnbull extended congratulations to St. John Administrator Julien Harley and Commissioner Richards upon receiving the news of the recognition for the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
