Police on St. John Nab Man Exiting Estate Enighed Home

V.I. Police Department officers on St. John responding to a call of a burglary in progress observed a male exiting an apartment and arrested him for First Degree Burglary.

The thief was in possession of stolen merchandise worth more than $1,700, which was recovered.

At about 1:17 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, police were dispatched to a burglary in progress in Estate Enighed. When police arrived they saw a male exiting an apartment through a window and arrested him. The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Ava Haywood of the Tutu housing community.

Police recovered merchandise including a laptop computer, a camcorder, a Sprint cell phone, an iPod and other items.
Bail for Haywood was set at $75,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections on St. Thomas pending further court action.
