Lapsley died in a rental villa earlier this month.
V.I. Police had no information for the public as of March 14 on their investigation into the death of a Virginia woman who was found dead in her rental villa on March 2.
Kimberly Lapsley and her husband Samuel were regular visitors to St. John in recent years and had been celebrating her birthday during their most recent stay.
Police released additional information March 11.
Police interviewed Lapsley’s husband who said he and his wife were on vacation from Virginia and had an argument in the villa where they were staying, according to the initial media report.
The husband said after the argument he slept outside the rental property in his vehicle, according to the initial VIPD report.
The next morning he tried to enter to the villa but could not gain access and called for assistance to get inside and once inside discovered the unresponsive body of his wife, according to the VIPD report.
Detectives investigating the case said March 11 the autopsy has been completed and they were awaiting toxicology results. The office of the Medical Examiner in the Virgin Islands sends and receives the toxicology report. Once that office receives it, they contact the VIPD.
Detectives said the case is still under active investigation and they will continue to interview anyone who has any information on the couple.
