Omega Institute Returns to St. John on January 13

Jon Kabat-Zinn will return to St. John at Maho Bay Camps through Omega Holistic Institute to speak about exploring one’s life at a deeper level by giving the tools for recharging.

Kabat-Zinn uses mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is based on his renowned program of stress reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Kabat-Zinn is the author of numerous books including his latest, “Coming to Your Senses,” which engages readers in sitting meditation, body scanning and Hatha yoga, as well as mindfulness of communication and other activities of everyday life.
Kabat-Zinn will be the featured speaker for the free Monday night, January 14, workshop at Sol Yoga from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sol Yoga is located behind Mongoose Junction and to the left rear parking lot.

The other speakers conducting workshops at Maho Bay Camps from January 13 to 18 are Naushon Kabat-Zinn who does a powerful Vinyasa Yoga; Pamela Wilson who speaks about “enlightenment is here already: now let’s clarify the jewel, the body and the mind;” David Wegman who focuses on artistic expression by reimaging the image.

Also, Omega co-founder Stephan Rechtschaffen, who talks about “living fully in this moment” and teaches holistic approaches to time, longevity, stress reduction, and well-being; and Steven Michael Pague, co-director of Omega’s Maho Bay Program, will present “explorations into the natural mysteries of our world.”

From January 20 to 25, Daniel and Tara Bennett-Goleman, who have written best-selling books that explore how to transform emotional confusion leading to a more genuine connection with oneself and others, will speak about “emotional alchemy.”

Also that week, Natalie Goldberg will guide guests into a chronological pronouncement of the facts of their lives, Annette Knopp will present sessions about “the free heart,” and Rechtshcaffen and Pague will each speak again.

Alanna Kaivalya will offer an intensely unique approach to the Jivamukti Yoga system with a strong focus on Nada Yoga. Kaivalya, who has a talented, soothing voice during her inspiring chanting, will be the speaker at the free Sol Yoga event on January 21 at 7:30 p.m.

During the last week, January 27 to February 1, award-winning artist, teacher and author of “Watercolor: A New Beginning: A Holistic Approach to Painting” Ann Lindsay will present her approach to discovering the soulful pleasure of painting with watercolor. Lindsay will also speak at Sol Yoga on January 28 at 7:30 p.m. for free as a farewell gift to the island of St. John from Omega.

Best-selling author of “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” John Perkins will share how to achieve personal and global peace and prosperity by expanding one’s consciousness and shapeshifting institutions. Margot Anand, author of “The Art of Sexual Ecstasy,” will explore ancient methods of sexual alchemy, energy transmutations and ways to cultivate spiritual awakening. Knopp, Rechtschaffen and Pague will also speak during the last week.

Residents are welcome to join the Monday night events at Sol Yoga for no charge to become acquainted with the famous motivational speakers.

Omega gives to the community the Monday events so residents can experience the acclaimed international speakers from around the world, and this is their 24th year to bring these workshops.

They also offer a major discount to the Maho Bay Camp event for locals at $35 per class, $80 per day or $400 per week.
