New St. John Ten Bay 10K Road Race on December 3

St. John, USVI – Calling all athletes looking for a new challenge! Registration is open for the first St. John Ten Bay 10K Road Race scheduled for 7:00AM on Saturday, December 3rd. The Ten Bay 10K features a challenging and scenic course within the Virgin Islands National Park along North Shore Road. Beginning at the National Park Visitor Center, the course traverses the north shore of St. John for 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), overlooking ten of the world’s most beautiful bays and beaches. The race finishes at the Maho Bay beach pavilion.

There is a strict 1 hour 30 minute time limit to complete the race. Runners must be able to keep at least a consistent 13-minute per mile place on steep, hilly roads. One lane of North Shore Road will be closed during the event. Portions of the lane will re-open to traffic at specific times, and runners who have not passed checkpoints by a certain time threshold will be removed from the course. Although walking is allowed during the race, the time limit means that participants may not walk the entire course.

The $50 entry fee per athlete includes a high quality t-shirt (men) or tank top (women), finisher’s award, on-course support and a race souvenir. Prizes will be awarded to the top three men and women. Athletes must register online at www.tenbay10k.com. A pre-race briefing meeting will take place at The Tap Room on Friday, December 2nd.

Participation is capped at 100 and the race directors expect the event to fill. There is no registration the day of the race.

The race directors are committed to making this event plastic-free (no single-use plastic water or beverage bottles). For more information, including a course description and volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.tenbay10k.com or email Mary and Matt at tenbay10k@gmail.com.
