Gifft Hill School has five new members in their National Honor Society. Parents, faculty and staff were on hand to watch the students induction. The students were selected by their high standards in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
New inductees include De-Shawna Davis, Krista Forehand, Liliana Martinez, Seala Matthias, and Jordan Spivey. Head of School Laurie Bottiger delivered an inspiring speech. She honored the students character and academic achievements. The new society members’ commitment to the school was praised along with their philanthropic efforts toward their sister school, The Namasagali Primary School in Uganda. Music was provided by the One Voice Gifft Hill School Choir.
Formed in 2005, the Gifft Hill School National Honor Society is the school’s local chapter of the National Honor Society. The alpha chapter was formed in 1921. The organization is famous as a pipeline for exceptional students. Students are invited to its ranks recognizing their academic achievement but also good character and leadership potential.
The induction ceremony is part of a week of scholastic events at Gifft Hill School. Students and faculty held the annual Science Fair on Tuesday. Lower and upper school students presented their experiments and projects in the categories of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
Gifft Hill School serves as an academic community and college preparatory school for the island of St. John. Their mission is to educate, challenge, support and empower students to ignite their passion for learning in preparation for college, careers, and their roles as stewards of the island and global community. The school serves as the only high school on St. John.
