Man Found Dead After One of Two Assault Incidents

Police on St. John are investigating the death of St. John resident Ariel Powell. St. John Deputy Chief Darren Foy said Powell was found unresponsive near his vehicle in the parking lot of the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center, Saturday, May 23 at about 4:40 a.m.  

Foy said the initial police investigation revealed that Powell was at a night club previous to going to the clinic and told a family member he was beat up by several males. Powell drove himself to the Clinic where he apparently passed out in the parking lot. Medical personnel told police Powell had a scratch on his face and a bump on his head. 

Deputy Chief Foy said Powell may have succumbed to an ongoing medical condition. The Medical Examiner has been contacted and an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
 
St. John police are also investigating an Assault III that occurred at about 3:58 a.m. Saturday, May 23 in the vicinity of the “Find Deh Spot” nightclub. According to Deputy Chief Foy a male victim was found lying on the ground in the Penn’s Trucking Yard, located across the street from the night club. The victim sustained bruises to his face, according to police.
 
Deputy Chief Foy said the police are following “solid leads” in the case however he asked if anyone has information on the Assault they should call the Leander Jurgen Command at 693-8880 and ask for the Deputy Chief or call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 715-5522 and ask for Detective Cassandra Vincent.
