The 2009 International Coastal Cleanup ended November 15 leaving Love City’s coastal shores and trails cleaner and St. John residents with a greater respect for their island home.

When Lonnie and Albert Willis first visited St. John together in 1974, the two hippie kids from New York camped out and grooved out on the slow-paced island life — with no idea they would still be running a successful business here more than 35 years later.
Although the 1974 vacation was not the first time Albert Willis had visited Love City — he stayed on the island in the mid-1960s after reading about it in a travel book — this time around the visit was different. Tiring of the congested and cold northeast, the couple was looking for more than a great place to snorkel.

On Sunday, February 7, at approximately 3:20 p.m. V.I. Police Department officers on St. John were dispatched to the area of Privateer Bay, located in the island’s East End, to a possible recovered body on the bay side.
VIPD confirmed upon arrival that a body was in fact on the rocks on the eastern side of the rocky bay. Based on the appearance of the body it appeared that it had been in the water a number of days before washing ashore.

Local hot sauce master Trinidad Charlie lead a large group of eager participants through the process of making his West Indian Pepper Sauce on Wednesday, January 27, at his home in Guinea Gut. The Friends of the V.I. National Park seminar included a tour of Charlie's lush and plant-rich property.
