Adisa Bertrand
A 24-year-old female St. Thomas resident was found dead in a vehicle in Tutu Valley at about 10:15 p.m. on March 7. While police were still at the crime scene area residents called 911 regarding a male who was acting in a suspicious manner. Police responded to the tip and subsequently arrested 34-year-old Adisa Bertrand of Chocolate Hole, St. John, and charged him with Murder in the First Degree among other charges.
The 911 dispatch alerted police to a one car traffic accident in Tutu Valley involving a gold Honda Accord that crashed into a fence. While investigating the accident police saw the unresponsive body of a female in the vehicle, later identified as Shantee Seivewright. Police said the victim had injuries to her body that were not the result of an auto accident.
While at the scene police received information that a man was at a nearby bar telling patrons that he wanted to kill himself. When police went to the location they saw the man had blood on his clothes. He was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center and seen by the medical staff. He was subsequently released to Major Crime detectives. Police identified the male as Bertrand who admitted being involved in the Murder. Bertrand was arrested at about 1:30 a.m. on March 8.
Bertrand was charged with 1st Degree Murder; 2nd Degree Murder; 1st Degree Assault; 3rd degree Assault and four counts of Possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence. He was held without bail and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights at the VI Superior Court.
