Downtown Ferry Route Temporarily Shut Down

Ferries to Charlotte Amalie stayed docked in Cruz Bay for inspection.

The Cruz Bay to Charlotte Amalie ferry route was shut down last week for an undetermined amount of time due to a lack of ferry boats.

The route is shared by Varlack Ventures and Transportation Services.

Transportation Services boats were being inspected, according to a company representative.

“We are having them inspected, and they should be back shortly,” the representative said.
Varlack Ventures opted to accommodate passengers on the Red Hook route, explained company representative Delrise Varlack.

“The other company doesn’t have any operating ferries as we speak,” said Varlack on Friday afteroon, April 13. “We are trying to accommodate everyone through the other alternative for traveling to St. Thomas, which is Red Hook. The route will be back up, hopefully very soon.”
