The V.I. Port Authority board of directors recently approved by poll vote a contract with the deJongh Group for planning the beautification of the Cruz Bay Creek.
The VIPA-owned property has been used as everything from a parking lot to a dock for cruise ship tenders since barge traffic moved to the Enighed Pond Marine Facility in April 2006.
VIPA has never discussed specific details of the beautification process, however the deJongh Group’s proposal includes plans for the construction of a new boat ramp, fishermen’s area and a new dock for two idle ferry boats at Enighed Pond, and expansion of the existing dock in Cruz Bay.
The cost for the planning stage alone totals nearly $75,000, while the cost of the construction portion of the project has not yet been determined.
Below is the detailed proposal, with tasks listed in chronological order, submitted by the deJongh Group with corresponding costs.
