CBYC 26th Annual Thanksgiving Regatta November 23 and 24

Raffle tickets are available to win a brand new dinghy, above, and support the St. John Kids And The Sea program before the CBYC Thanksgiving Regatta.

Sailors across the territory and near-by islands are scraping their hulls and tweaking their sails in preparation for the Coral Bay Yacht Club’s 26th Annual Thanksgiving Regatta.

The competition kicks off on Friday, November 23, for single-handed captains and optimists, lasers and 420s. Saturday, November 24, will feature crewed vessels of all sizes and multi-hull racing.

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. on November 23 at Skinny Legs. The skippers’ meeting that day will begin at 9 a.m. at Skinny Legs with the first warning and racing to follow.

On Saturday, November 24, the skippers’ meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. at Skinny Legs with the first warning and racing to follow. An exciting awards ceremony with live music is planned for that evening starting at 7:30 p.m. also at Skinny Legs.

Entry fee for the regatta is $40, payable at the time of registration. Sailing instructions will also be available at the time registration.

There is still time to purchase raffle tickets from St. John Kids And The Sea members and instructors for the chance to win a brand new inflatable dinghy and support youth sailing. Raffle tickets are also available at several venues across the island including Keep Me Posted, Connections and St. John Hardware.

This year’s regatta will be in honor of long-time Coral Bay sailor and CBYC member Steve Dawes who passed away earlier this year. Dawes’ family members from France and the United Kingdom are expected to be on island and take part in the regatta.

Mark your calendars for an exciting weekend of sailing in Coral Bay!
