CBCC Announces No Straw Please Video Competition Winner

The winners of the “No Straw, Please” social media video competition were announced at the end of July. The joint effort between the Coral Bay Community Council, Get Trashed-St. John, and Plastic Free Island: St John, aimed to engage the community in a pledge to reduce plastic waste.

Participants were challenged to film their own 30 to 60 second video about the impact of plastic straws on the environment. Entrants managed to capture that theme in a variety of informative, and even comical ways.

The winner and runner-up videos have been scheduled to play on the NBS affiliate in the Virgin Islands between August 7 and August 14 during the Today Show time slot. Be sure to tune in!

Here is the winning video by Leah Burke.

The runner-up was created by Gina Wellner and her daughter along with a friend.
