The 2012 Wagapalooza T-shirt and poster designer is Annie Caswell who has donated her talent to the St. John animal shelter’s major fundraising event of the year.
Waga will be Saturday, May 19, starting at 5 p.m. in the V.I. National Park ball field in Cruz Bay. Day-of-show registrations will start at 4 p.m.
Caswell is the owner of Kissed by Fire Creations, and is best known on St. John for her one-of-a-kind Spirit Dolls. For several years, she has offered VINP seminars in Spirit Doll-making, encouraging seminar participants to bring their own natural materials to form individualistic creations. Samples of some of Caswell’s own Spirit Dolls can be seen on her website, www.anniecaswell.com.
In addition to Spirit Doll creation, Caswell paints, sculpts, crafts jewelry, and does graphic design. A freelance designer, Caswell’s work is on display in several shops in Vermont, at Soggy Bottom in Jost Van Dyke, and at the Friends of the Park store in Cruz Bay. Her diverse creations can also be seen at Jolly Dog, Donkey Diner, and the Full Moon of St. John, all in Coral Bay, as well as at St. John Spice in Cruz Bay.
The 2012 T-shirts and posters will be collector items for those who purchase each year’s custom designed Waga souvenirs. This year’s design features a ship full of rescued dogs and puppies sailing to safe harbor at the ACC shelter. The sailing ship bears the name “Paws on Deck” along its bow.
Appropriately, Tall Ships Traders will soon be producing the Caswell Waga T-shirts. They can be purchased at the shelter on the library road in Cruz Bay before Waga, or at the park on the day of the dog show. A collector treatment for the unique poster is to have it mounted on wood and laminated as a wall hanging. Laminated ACC posters for Wagapalooza 2011 and for the “Walk on the Wild Side” gala can be seen hanging at the shelter.
ACC thanks Caswell for the generous donation of her artwork. With donations from visitors, residents, and off-island supporters, the good ship ACC will continue sailing, bringing homeless, hungry, and sometimes abused dogs and kitties to safe harbor.
Donations are welcome all year ’round. All proceeds from Waga go directly to feeding, medicating, sheltering, and caring for our island’s needy companion animals.
